Depression is the PITS!

On January 20th 2010, my mother-in-law Joan passed away. I know she is much better off now, no pain and no worries. She was 87 and had several things wrong with her body, Macular Degeneration, Scoliosis, Congestive Heart Failure, just to name a few of the things she was fighting. I miss her so much! We became very good friends over the 7 years that she lived with us. It's over a year and a half now, and depression is still with John and I, we find ourselves finally moving on.
John retired from White Sands Missile Range in November of 2010 and as with all government agencies it has take many months to get his retirement pay. Now we can concentrate on getting our Car Restoration business up and running. Old Cars, mostly from 1935 have long been a passion of his!
We have also gotten a new dog to keep our American White Shepherd, HotRod, company we named her Ellie after the 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds"

June has been a hot month for us with temperatures in the high 90's! In March and April we had several 100 degree days, now with Monsoon season here it is even worse! It is 99 on my front porch, and there are storms on the Sacramento Mountains behind our house! Humidity is above 40 percent, so it is sweltering! I hope to get some storm pictures later on.

Yesterday the Barn Swallows started teaching their young to fly! I'm always amazed by the different variety of birds we have here! One of the baby Barn Swallows was on the ground most of yesterday, I don't think he was quite ready! I did get some pictures of all four of them in the nest!

I also got some pictures of the Barn Owls that have set up housekeeping in our Globe Willow!
I hope you enjoy them!

Can you see the owl? He is in there, the next photo I took with 50% zoom on and got him !

There he is!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

WoW! I haven't posted anything since October of 2008, amazing how time gets away!!

Lets see....

The weather here has been really nice for the last few days, it was very hot in March and April. Then it froze a couple of times as well. All our trees seem to have survived, along with all the rabbits! Had two owls, barn owls I think in the globe willow the other day! Good place for them to sleep during the day! Couple of roadrunners hanging out eating all the lizards!

Joan is doing much better, still on Oxygen. We went to the Heart Specialist today, he put her on blood pressure medicines, and wants to put her on blood thinners.

WOW! July was my last post, its October already! So much for posting everyday!

Lets see, John has had 2 ultra sounds for Kidney Stones, 2 hernia operations. He is doing much better but will be home till Tuesday Oct. 14th. I think John has caught a cold! I'm having very little in the way of physical problems, just feel overwhelmed.
Joan is well, her eye sight is getting worse, but she is hanging in there.
Methos has been sick, I thought he was going to go to the big meadow in the sky!
But after 3 Vet visits he is doing better, they think it may be his Thyroid.
HotRod, the new puppy is doing good, learning about his world. Chases grasshoppers all over the yard!
Gracie is well, all three animals just got their rabies shots, good for another 3 years!

Our trees all 13 of them are growing, only two are having problems. Fall is in the air, random leaves all over the place, every plant looks a little dull as they get ready to sleep for the winter. I can hardly wait to see how many bloom next spring! Maybe tomorrow I'll get some pictures posted!
Take care everybody, hope your fall is colorful!

Beautiful Sunset!

I took this on Monday July 21, 2008, this one of the reasons I love living out here in the New Mexico desert!
We get some awesome sunrises, and the colorful sunsets! God has many cathedrals, and I'm very lucky to live in the middle of one! Remember if you click on a picture it will open full size! Enjoy!

Natures Helicopters-Hummingbirds

I love Hummingbirds, they are so cool! We have two large windows in the kitchen, and we hang two feeders there every spring. The hummers love it when it rains, not sure of the exact day I took these, but I know it was in the last two weeks. When I got ready to take the pictures there were 10 or 12 of them, but I only got two! Maybe next time I can sit outside and get them from there.

John and HotRod playing

HotRod is so sure of himself, he is so much fun! It gets crazy around here with him everyday! This was taken on Saturday, John was watching racing on T.V. and HotRod was harassing him the whole time! Picture came out pretty good!

Left and Right

And on the right side of the Sacramento Mountains there was this beautiful rainbow! It was amazing! I love being this close to the Sacramento Mountains! Just looking from the left of the Sacramento Mountains to the right can be exhilarating! My little camera really didn't capture all the colors of the rainbow that you could see with the eye!

Left and Right

Late yesterday afternoon, just as we finished mowing the lawn a storm came up, on the left side of the Sacramento Mountains, was the rain storm moving from the north to the east. Wind was blowing pretty good, with a few drops of rain on our little corner of the world. Last night we got a good soaking!
